What is FLR FP Application?

Under Appendix FM, the UK Home Offices offers two distinct paths to citizenship depending on family life as a spouse/partner or parent.

Under an application for additional leave to remain in the M category, the 5-year road to indefinite leave to remain (ILR) grant. If the application fulfils all conditions, such as income and language ability, the visa is valid for 2.5 years for a spouse, partner, or dependent.

On the other hand, as they base on family or private life rather than income and savings, candidates for additional leave to remain based on FLR FP often take 10 years to qualify for settlement. This option similarly grants leave to remain for 2.5 years. However, applicants must submit four applications instead of the two for FLR M candidates.

The following types of Leave to Remain in the United Kingdom are eligible for the 10-year route to settlement:

  • Family life as a spouse or partner in the United Kingdom.
  • Parental family life in the United Kingdom (5-year route also available).
  • Dependent children of those who have received or are requesting permission to stay in the UK.
  • You may grant permission to stay in the UK outside immigration laws depending on your family or personal circumstances.

If your situation fits any of the following, you shouldn’t file for the 10-year route to settlement:

  • You want to submit a request for discretionary leave to stay.
  • You are requesting additional discretionary leave after being granted discretionary leave to remain.
  • You want to make an application for international or asylum protection.
  • Following the denial or withdrawal of previous claims for asylum or protection of the law of human rights, you want to submit new requests for asylum or international protection.

Processing FLR(FP) applications by the Home Office generally takes 12 weeks. The Home Office does point out that due to the complexity of these situations, service standards for FLR(FP) applications may suspend at any time. It has to do with how frequently they cite human rights defences made following European and international human rights law.

The amount increases if you have children who have moved to the UK, acquired permanent residency status there, or are not British or Irish citizens.

Conclusion:

You must collect and submit a tonne of supporting paperwork in addition to submitting form FLR(FP). It’s essential to ensure you follow the right procedures when submitting an application using FLR (FP). You can stay in the UK with your family if this application is approved.
