Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme Visa: What You Need To Know

Guidelines, Immigration Tips

The Working Holiday Visa was replaced by the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) Visa in 2008 to adopt a new U.K. Immigration approach.

In essence, you must pass several eligibility’s requirements if you wish to work or study in the UK and are from a country where you must first obtain a visa. The current system includes five tiers with distinct categories for various forms of applications, jobs, education, etc., in each of them. Currently, there are 5 different tiers.

The Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) is one of two Tier 5 categories, while the Temporary Worker category is for those arriving in the UK under one of the following employment subcategories: (Creative and sporting activities; charitable and religious work; exchanges authorised by governments; agreements with other nations; seasonal labour). You must have a legitimate sponsorship certificate and a verified employment offer from an authorised UK employer for the temporary worker.

Who Requires a Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme Visa?

Citizens of Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Hong Kong, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, British Overseas Citizens, British Overseas Territories Citizens, and British Nationals between the ages of 18 and 30 who wish to live and work in the UK temporarily are eligible for this type of visa.

Eligibility:

When you submit a visa application, an Entry Clearance Officer receives it. You must fulfil three requirements to be eligible for entry clearance.

If you have a passport from one of the eligible nations (Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Republic of Korea, Taiwan), OR if you are a British national, British overseas territory resident, or British overseas citizen, you will meet the nationality requirement. If you are between 18 and 30, you will receive 10 points for fulfilling the age criteria. If you have £1,890 in savings and can apply for a visa up to 6 months before your trip, you will earn 10 points for fulfilling the maintenance requirement.
